“School - a workshop, where a thought of the younger generation, you must hold it in your hands very firmly, if you do not want to relinquish the future” (A.Barbusse)
I wanted to start my essay with this statement. I think that school years are the most important in our live, because the school formed our character, because we get the most important and necessary knowledge namely in school. By the way we get in school not only scientific knowledge but also life skills. We learn there to communicate, to respect, to listen, to hear and of course to love. We come to school very young and the same as plastellin. Good teachers should be able to see in every student something different from the other and to sculpture something unique. In general, the school is the most important thing for a man (after the bread)
As for my lyceum, I think that there are such teachers, who is sculpting from each of us something unique. I do love my lyceum. I love to come every morning in lyceum and hello to my classmates. I like how our teachers conduct lessons. I like that our teachers make it possible to argue with them, to prove our point of view. I like our teachers. By the way, teachers in our lyceum - a teachers first and highest qualification categories, doctors and candidates of sciences, winners of the contest "Teacher of the Year". They develop their own teaching methods and it makes learning more interesting. I like that our lessons are constructed so that we do not limit the study of the topic only from the textbook. So we have a very interesting program. Our students take an active part in various Olympiads, conferences, competitions, which are organize in our lyceum each year. Also we participate in international competitions, such as the "Kangaroo", “British Bulldog”, “Russian Bear”, “Zolotoe Runo”, “KIT” and so on.
Our lyceum has its own special traditions: trips in China, trips to nature, to oz.Arahley, various tours. Also, we have in lyceum a large fireplace which is associated also with many traditions. As for me, I would never changed this traditions. I would never change nothing in my lyceum. It has its own history and own traditions. Most remarkable and well-educated teachers teach in our high school. Lyceum it is our teachers. Teachers teach us subjects, lyceum teaches life.

This statement is rather controversial. For pupils who do well in most of the subjects and are interested in getting higher education, school years are the best. Some students take school years for granted as they have to get education. But those who don’t succeed in learning think that school is boring and dull and there are children who even hate school.
Here are some opinions of the members of our team:

What does school mean for me? School is a place where I started living in society. The place where I was formed like an independent person with my own opinion and character. But school is not only a place to study. School is the air: the air of knowledge, friendship, first love, fun, independence. School means the most important lesson I have ever had in my life. It is the lesson of life. School gives a great experience of living with people, of living in society.

Zavolokin Vlad:

School isn’t only a place to study but it’s also a place to communicate with friends and develop our skills and abilities. So I don’t think that school is a bad place. I am on good terms with my classmates. They are kind, clever and friendly. My school is great. I wouldn’t like to change it.

Shmeleva Kamilla:

In my opinion, school is a great place. I really like going to school. First of all it’s interesting for me to learn something new every day. I think we are very lucky to have well trained teachers. At the English lessons we discuss different problems in English.
Secondly, our school is very modern. It has some gymnasium classes.
Thirdly, I have devoted friends among my classmates. It’s very important to have people who always keep promises and never let you down.
I am very proud of my school. Our school won two grants, two million rubles which were spent on two computer classrooms and other equipment. The pupils of our school take part in the Internet game “Erudite people” and other projects and contests.
However, I would like to change my school a little. It would be better, if there were smaller classes, for example classes of 15 students. It would be splendid to have more educational and exiting contests between classes.
In spite of all I want the traditions of our school to be unchangeable.
To sum up, I can say that school years are the happiest years for me.

When I think about our school I think of clever, talented and kind teachers. But school is not only for learning. We communicate with our classmates, make friendship with different people and have fun. School days are wonderful and unforgettable.

As for me, I would rather agree that school years are the most wonderful time in our life. In these days we are more carefree, because we don’t have to work yet and think about such important questions like adults do, and can still enjoy our childhood. But sometimes we just don’t realize that. We sometimes think that we have too many lessons, too much homework, we begin to feel tired of endless work-days at school, studying seems boring and monotonous to us. Also there are a lot of stressful situations we face at school.
Of course, a lot of lessons and homework we have everyday can be stressing for us, but it is the only way to get education.
After all, the first function of school is educational, not entertaining. And besides, it prepares us for our future life, forms a strong character. So, we should get so much information on the lessons as possible and consider all the difficulties that we have to face at school a training for our adulthood.

So for all of us school years are the happiest years. We are very proud of our school and try to do the best to glorify it.

Our opinions are different. On the one hand, If there’s no hope that these pupils will start studying seriously, we can just find what subjects, they understand and like.When we find it, we will be able to increase number of subjects and decrease subjects, that pupils hate, don’t understand or don’t need, expect Russian and Maths, because I think, everybody must know them.
On the other hand, I think, we can’t help these pupils, because problem isn’t in our school, the problem is in there the characters, in there lifestyle. And only they or their parents can change it. Though we can try to do the best to involve them into different activities where they succeed. And the success will and learning in general positively.
Unfortunately there are no more questions. Probably there will be questions tomorrow. But tomorrow we won’t be a team, but just children who spend a holiday together with the parents. So we won’t be able to answer tomorrow.

A school can be compared with a magic palace. A lot of miracles happen to a
child here. A small, weak child comes to school. Every day he learns something
new, opens the wonderful world for himself. The child absorbs knowledge, develops
abilities and talents,creativity, goes in for sports. At school a child gets new
acquaintances. They are connected by the common interests. So the friendship
begins. School friendship is the strongest. It lasts all life long. The school
becomes a native home. Teachers become native people. A pupil receives a
certificate after leaving school. A young, strong, adult person who has chosen
road to the future. This man understands that school days were the most
interesting, cheerful, the most wonderful in life.
As for me I like to study in my school - High School 5.We study a lot of subjects
at school. From one point of view it`s good because they develop our scope, but
sometimes I don`t have time to prepare my homework well.I am interested in English
because I need it for my future career.Actually, I like my school. I have a lot of
friends here. There are a lot of extracurricular activities. After lessons I can
take part in the work of different school clubs. Besides we have a lot of parties
and discos. I am the member of our school organization "Fortuna". We do a lot of
work including social.I can tell you a lot about my school, but there is no enough
space. To sum everything up I want to say that I adore my school.

Our Lyceum is not great and that it differs from other schools, because we all know each other, always ready to help each other, we are like one big family .... And teachers - the other parent is always support and assist us in our endeavors! We have a lot of traditions that no one ever breaks! This is different creative credits, evenings by the fireplace (I have not talked to you, we have a fireplace, is one of the main features of the home environment), concerts for teachers and parents. Our lyceum students each year take part in various scientific conferences, competitions and we always took prizes! As for me, I like all taking part and conferences and competitions, took prizes. Do not think that it's boring, it's not so! Through research activities we have very much new for yourself, then that will be useful to us in the future, we meet new people and to defend the honor of our face! No person, who is studying in high school, does not spend time in an empty .... Everyone is always busy with something. Learn in lyceum - it means to be a lyceum student! We have a fabulous teacher - the real professionals, many of them have a rank candidates of different sciences, as well as have teachers who each year receive the title "Teacher of the Year". Luceum does not stand still, and always develop simultaneously with his disciples, from the walls of the Lyceum came out a lot of people who are now known to many in our city: djs, leading TV broadcasts and just important people. And of course the most important achievement of our lyceum - a large number of people who have received an excellent education and have become real people! I do not think that she would like something to change ... just add a little more different activities. To start with I'd like to tell you some words about school and it's role in our life. In today's world many people think that school years are the best time of their life. But everybody knows how many problems a typical student has at school.
On the one hand, as far as advantages of school years are concerned, I can say that school is one of the first steps to develop yourself and it's important on the way to becoming a successful, independent and self-confident adult. Besides, it has a great influence on your mind and individuality.
On the other hand,sometimes students have so much problems with studying that they don't manage it and they can feel stressful and exhausted because of hard work, especially in High School. That's why not every student enjoys the school years or even begins to miss the lessons and leave homework out.
As for me, I like my school very much. I spend a lot of time there studying, taking part in its life, communicating with my friends. I know that not everyone feels the same way with me, but I'm sure that making efforts and some patient can solve the problems. Just look at your school from the positive side, I suppose you would be proud of it if you learnt about your school achievements.
For instance, my gymnasium is one of the oldest schools in my town, that's why it has so many prizes, diplomas and victories in either studying or sport competitions not only in our region, but around the country. By the way my school has its long and special traditions such as a theatre studio,music groups, a school newspaper and English club, which I take an active part in. I'd like to say some words about it. Some children of different ages, who are very fond of learning language, put their heads together to make interesting and attractive events, connected with English language, history, culture and traditions, for pupils of our school to drawn them into profound studying English.
Last but not least I want to say is that I'd better change some sides of our school life. I think students will be more serious about their studying if there are more scholarships at school. Many of my schoolmates deserve it. Moreover my school needs some reconstruction. We would be pleased to have a renovated gym for our sport lessons and competitions.
All in all, school years are definitely the great experience in our life. I hope everyone enjoys it in spite of the difficulties and small defeats met on a thorny way of student.

The 9th Castle
School plays a great role in our life. First we wanted to write a funny fairy tale about the 9th Castle, but after some debates came to conclusion that our story must be serious. May be later (if you want of course ) we’ll tell you our fairy tale full of mysterious characters, knights of the square table, warriors of knowledge and…king Arthur.
And now-what we think about Gimnasia № 9 named after K. Tsiolkovsky in Kaluga.. There is an English saying: “My house is my castle”. We think it is true for our school. On the one hand our school is a very old building which looks like a real castle. It has thick walls, a lot of rooms with high ceilings and big windows. It seems to us that our school is like a fortress for us. On the other hand our school is like our home. We think so because we have a lot of friends there, most of our teachers are kind and friendly. They help us when we are in need. They teach us not only their subjects, but how to be good people.
In 2004 our grammar school became the winner of regional competition «Best schools of the Kaluga region» Grammar school №9 — one of the oldest educational institutions of Kaluga and the Kaluga region. Within nineteen years the great Russian scientist, the founder of theoretical astronautics taught physics and astronomy in it.



It is the well-known iron ladder on which already more than 100 years pupils rise to heights of knowledge. We are proud that Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky went along corridors of our grammar school and taught physics and mathematics in it.

VICTOR GALKIN, 8 A: “ My school is my castle. Hmm…I don’t think so. It is more than a castle, it is the second house, a castle and a big part of my life. School isn’t only education, it is an interesting mini world. We spend here a lot of time, and this time is very interesting and important for us.

It is autumn. The day is gloomy. The weather is nasty. It is raining. But we the members of the team “Success” are in a good mood. We are sitting in a cosy English classroom discussing the project about our school. Each of us has a lot of ideas, we have so much to tell about our school!
“My School is My Castle”... in our opinion it’s a good topic to discuss, a wonderful way to show our love to the place we study at and spend a lot of time in. School years are the best years of people. It is not a secret that some teens don’t like school and maybe even hate it but it’s quite different with us. All members of our team are happy to learn in our classical school. The atmosphere is very friendly and creative. The majority of teachers are understanding, kind and they give us deep knowledge. They do their best to make our life full of interesting events. There are a lot of clubs and hobby groups in our school. We are proud of our sportsmen who take part in different competitions and get prizes. Our singers and dancers are the best in the district of Totskoye. We enjoy classes in English and Drama clubs. And there is nothing better than our disco parties and excursions to other towns and cities! There are many talanted and unic children among us and teachers help pupils to develope their individuality. Here at school we meet first true friends and we hope they will remain our friends forever. We shall never forget our first teachers. Victories and losses, joy and tears, first love - all these happens at school...
It goes without saying that all pupils as well as all teachers have different characters, likes and dislikes, merits and demerits, various moods but we try to understand each other, support each other and get along well. We feel unhappy when we get bad marks or fail to do something but our friends and teachers encourage us to try again. It is possible to compare atmosphere in our school with a rainbow where all colours can be seen and together they are so beautiful and unusual. Gradually our school changes to the better, we mean furniture, equipment, and computers. We can use Internet; we have a rich library and a good collection of films. But we would like to preserve the atmosphere of mutual understanding, cooperation, and creativity in our school. We are sure that all our school leavers will return here again and again!
