Dear participants of the contest!

I am glad you are participating in the contest “My Symbol of English (French, German)”. It is a contest for the best presentation of your own symbol of foreign language learning for students, teachers and local coordinators.

The states and cities have coats of arms which reflect symbolically their history and essence. We know that a dove is an emblem of piece, a bay wreath is the winner’s emblem, the scepter and the ball are symbols of power. Well, what can be a symbol of the foreign language (English, German, French? How can it be depicted? Give a verbal description of your symbol of the foreign language. It can be connected with its learning, its function of coming together of the nations, or it can be connected with some individual, for example, with yourself. It’s up to you to decide. Put down in your answer, why you have chosen that very symbol.

Speak out at the forum, which of the symbols of other participants you liked most of all and why.

Приветствую вас на конкурсе Предметной недели «Мой символ английского (французского, немецкого) языка». Это конкурс на лучшее представление своего символа изучения иностранного языка для учащихся, педагогов и локальных координаторов.

У государств и городов есть гербы, символически отражающие их историю и суть. Мы знаем, что голубь - символ мира, лавровый венок - символ победителя, скипетр и держава – символы власти. А каким может быть символ иностранного языка (английского, немецкого, французского)? Как его можно обозначить? Дайте словесное описание вашего символа иностранного языка. Он может быть связан с его изучением, его функцией сближения наций либо связан с какой-нибудь личностью, например вами, и т.д. Решение за вами. В ответе напишите, почему вы выбрали именно этот символ.

Выскажитесь в форуме, какие символы других участников вам понравились более всего и почему.

Возник вопрос: подписались на рассылку, но получили только одну- подтверждение, описание мероприятий. As for me, symbol English language it is star. There are strength, leadership and other in this symbol. Maybe it is my association with USA flag, because for USA English language – it is native language. Frankly speaking I was not in this country.


Every time, when I see star, I remember English language, my favorite English lessons and I dream to visit States. I think that soon my dream will be real. It goes without saying, it will be fine.

I chose the symbol of learning English language - the globe(picture)

English opens the whole world for me, because it's one of the most popular languages on earth. If you are familiar with English language, that means half the success already in your hands. In whatever country you are, there you will always find people, who speak English. As for me, I love to travel, English helps me so much.

Shoes because it is special high and not given to each person, height - line of an ideal.

Noch einmal hallo. meiner Meinung nach die Eule das Symbol Germanije! Orjol - das Wappen Germanije das Symbol des Lichtes und des Wissens und die Eule - nicht umsonst diesen Vogel nennen weise. Die Eulen in den Märchen geben die richtigen Räte immer. in Germanije sind sehr viel große Menschen solche wie gewachsen: Goethe, Beethoven, Bach und andere auf die ganze Welt berühmten Namen, noch in Germanije die besten Lehrer und den Doktor in der Welt! deshalb habe ich das Symbol die Eule, weil in Germanije viel kluger, beschenkten, weisen Menschen gewählt!

Ich lerne das Deutsche und hat das Symbol des Deutschen des Bären gewählt. In der Beschreibung dieses Symbols und warum habe ich es gewählt, ich will sagen: in der erste Bär - stark und auf ihn kann man gelegt werden, wie auf das Land Deutschland. Aber втоже die Zeit er und sicher, kann er in den Schwierigkeiten helfen, wie auch Deutschland hilft den Ländern in den Schwierigkeiten. Und das wichtige Moment hat mir geschienen, dass der Titel der Stadt Berlins mit dem Wort der Bär anfängt. Es kann sich deshalb hat gebildet der Titel der Stadt?

Ответы на конкурсные задания публикуются на форуме и там же обсуждаются. Если ваш рабочий язык - английский, а конкурсант представил ответ на немецком (французском) языке, однако вы поняли его содержание, можно обсудить его и на русском языке. Основной же язык обсуждения - английский. Желаю плодотворной работы!

Travelling and understanding people, what can be better? They say if you know a foreign language, you have one more soul. But the globe is a ready-made answer. If you show a picture to us, please explain, what that green branch with leaves means, reletively to the English language. Please do it in a wider sense.

I am fond of English language a lot,
It has popularity in the world.
And when I hear about it
I recollect about the most great thing.
It is very big and tall,
And people become near it so small,
It can be called the symbol of all.
It strikes each hour every day,
We like to hear it with great gay.

I enjoy learning English. When I hear about it I imagine Big Ben. For me it is a symbol of English ,because it is so big as English language and it symbolizes time of my life when I began learning this beautiful and usefull language. Moreover, I think everyone knows about Big Ben. It is a symbol of London, London is a symbol of Britain,Britain is a birthplace of English.

It is fine that you know the symbol of USA. The eagle is aiming, allegorically to freedom, conquering the heavens. The eagle means speed, good reaction, smartness etc. However,, that symbol might assist you in crerating your own symbol of mastering English. May be the eagle can be included into your symbol, bein a part of it?

Hello! My name is Maria. I want to tell you how I imagine English symbol. For me it is the Earth. We live on the Earth and many people all over the world speak English. English is the third most spoken native language world-wide after Chinese and Hindi with some 380 million speakers. There are some countries too, where English is the major language. Besides English is often spoken at international conferences and seminars. Some British think that English spoken in the world by people of other nationalities is not real English. It’s global English. About 20% of the world’s population speak English. Doctors and scientists try to answer the same questions all over planet. They find it easy to exchange their ideas in English. People from different parts of the country often do not speak each other’s language. English is the only solution to their communication problems. English is the language of politicians. Most international journalists have to know English, too. So English is the language of rock and pop music. Most of world know singers sing their songs in English. Besides US and British companies produce thousands of films, videos and TV programmes every year. They are shown all over the world with subtitles and dubbing. English language unites people of different nationalities. So I think that the Earth is a symbol of the English language.

As for me, my symbol of English is a butterfly. Why? English is a rhythmic, dynamic and harmonious as the flight of a butterfly. Besides, English sounds so good. For me main feature is to unite people of different nationalities with the English language on Earth. Earth is my symbol study of language. I specialize in English, because I want have a good command of this subject, visit different countries, meet new people. I think that English is the international language. I associate it with the Earth. You're right about the general letter "E". This coincidence is interesting. I think it is no accident Besides English bright as the Earth. We know many of the planets, but the Earth is the most important thing for us because we live in it. English. For me it is the most beautiful and magic World. It is as rich as an ocean. It is as deep as the bottom of an ocean. I can't imagine my life without English as people can't live without water. I try to learn, to understand, to discover new things in English as people try to explore the ocean. Its clean blue water reminds me about the beauty of English language. A man like a small boat sailing in the vast territory of the ocean of English. Its words are like pearls which are waiting for the man. Its grammar as fish that the man can catch in order not to die.


English cause my emotions,
It is as rich as an ocean.
It is deep as the bottom of it,
And ships as people in English there meet.
They help each other not to be hit.
