I have dreamt to become a military man since I was a child. My dream comes true. I am a suvorovite. I am a second - year cadet. I am very proud of it!!! I study at the Suvorov Military School (SMS). It is my home. I would like to tell about my school and my friends. I love English. As a schoolboy I often took part in the competition “British Bulldog”. As a participant of this project I want to practice my English. I like drawing, taking pictures, creating presentations. I would like to tell about my school in pictures.
I would like to know: Does something depend on you that your school can be home to your classmates?

I would like to take part in the project because it is very interesting. I want to tell about my life and my school. I find it interesting to learn about other pupils from different cities, towns, villages of Russia. It is very important for me that we can exchange our views and ideas.
I was a schoolboy two years ago. Now I am a second-year cadet at the Suvorov Military School.
My school is a very famous school in Saint Petersburg as well in Russia. I am proud of who I am. I am very proud of our traditions. My school is really my home and my castle. My school is in the centre of St.-Petersburg. It is a beautiful palace constructed by Rastrelli in 1758.
At the SMS I study different subjects. I live here as well. My father is an officer. My brother studied at the SMS. I am very interested in the life of military men. I am very fond of music. I like singing. But I go in for sport too. I want to be an officer and defend my Fatherland. I am going to write about my school, take pictures and create a presentation.
I would like to ask other participants of this project: Why do you think that your school is your castle?

I study at the Suvorov Military School (SMS). My school is different from other schools and I think that it is one of the best schools of Russia.
Our SMS is in the centre of Saint-Petersburg. It occupies a very large and beautiful palace which was constructed by Rastrelli in 1758.
But there are well furnished and ultra-modern equipped classrooms and labs with up-to-date technology and high-speed Internet in our palace.
At our SMS we live and study according to our daily routine. The daily routine is based on military regulations and orders.
Our working day begins early in the morning. We get up and do morning exercises. Then we put our bunks in order; wash our hands, faces, necks and clean teeth in the washroom. Then we dress. We are always neatly dressed because we keep our uniform in perfect order.
At 8.00 a.m. we have breakfast at the mess. It is very clean, comfortable and cosy.
The lessons begin at 9.00 a.m. We study Mathematics, Literature, History, Biology, Geography, two foreign languages. We also have PE and IT.
After 6 lessons the cadets are free. We have a rest and attend different circles and clubs. It depends on our interests which club we visit. There are Art, Drama, Computer, Photography, Book and Music clubs at our school. I like singing. I visit the Music Club twice a week. It is very exiting. I am keen on singing. I often take part in different concerts.
The cadets like sports too. We go in for gymnastics, boxing, shooting, swimming. We play football, basketball and volleyball. Sport gives us health. It makes us strong.
At 5.40 we start to do our homework. It lasts for 3 hours. Then we are free till 10 p.m. Before we go to bed we have an evening walk in the yard. We have a healthy life stile but I would like to have a little bit more sleep.
Our teachers are quite strict. They teach us with great care, help us when we need. But if we are inattentive and don’t work properly, then we are punished.
I love my school because I have a lot of friends there. The boys are from different cities and towns from Russia. They are always around and I can always count on them. We live all together like one big family.
We are learning to be real men here. We are learning to be honest, responsible, and courageous.
Each day in my school is full of opportunities. It is foundation of my future. I am very proud of my school.

I am very happy because I study at the Suvorov Military School, one of the best schools in Russia.
Our school was founded in 1955. 500 boys came to school from different parts of the country.
Their parents perished during the Great Patriotic War. Many of the boys took part in the war themselves and were awarded with medals.
We like our SMS and we are proud of it.
Our school has a lot of traditions and ceremonies. I like the ceremony of initiation into suvorovites (cadets). It is great and extraordinary. This ceremony is a very colorful tradition. The suvorovites line up in the drill-ground. The first –year suvorovites present flowers to the officers and teachers, and then they all march past the School Commander. The best suvorovites of the best platoon carry the School Banner. Military ceremonies and traditions develop our spirit of patriotism.
I have dreamt to become a military man since I was a child. I want to be an officer and defend my Fatherland. My dream comes true.
My school is really my home. My teachers help me grow up. They teach me to think and discuss, to have my own opinion and to share it with others.
I have many friends here. They always help me if I need. My friends are very good and secure
Someone said: “Friendship doubles your joys, and divides your sorrows."
I can not imagine my life without my friends and my school. We go on trips, visit historical places, attend different clubs, and participate in different competitions. It is very interesting, exiting and funny. My school is preparing me for my future life.

I think it is not easy to be a cadet. Our school is not usual. We want to become military men. Our future duty is to defend our Fatherland. We have a goal and we must work very hard to achieve that goal. We must have such qualities of character as courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, and the ideals of selfless service to our land. We must follow the Cadet Honor Code.
We must be healthy and physically fit. We live with our mates in our school. We must be tolerant and accept everyone. It is very important to have a good sense of humor. We enjoy what we do that is why we are successful.

thank you for your question.
We live in our school according to daily routine. After lessons we can spend our free time according to our interests. There are a lot of clubs at our school. We can go in for sports. Some suvorovites dance or sing. Suvorovites who are interested in reading can visit our library. We usually participate in different competitions, exhibitions, concerts, performances. It is very interesting. Sundays we are at home and spend time with our parents. Moreover, we have holidays and we enjoy this time.

Hi, Dianka,
I like reading. I prefer to read books about wars, adventures, animals and pets. It is very interesting to read history books. My favourite book is “Fox Mike’s Dairy” by Sasha Cherny. This book is about love and mercy.
And what about you? Do you like reading? What is your favourite writer? Do you read English books? And what about your school? What school do you study at?

thank you for your question.
Last year we entered the SMS after the strict exams in Math, Russian and English. At the SMS we have six English lessons a week. In the evening we can visit our club for foreign languages. Its name is “Count Suvorov”. We watch English films, read English books, and act dialogues out, play different games there. Now we are taking part in the international project “The Image of the other”. We have pen friends from different countries. We write letters about our life once a month. These letters are about our families, school, Russia and Saint-Petersburg, hobbies, free time, daily routine, holidays, traditions, sports.... It is very interesting. I like to tell about holidays.
Sometimes we meet pupils from Australia and Germany and talk English with them. It is fun.
I hope I can use my English in future for travelling and for job.

Dima, yes, I love to read. my favorite author is Phyllis Kristin Cast and Stephenie Meyer, but I don't like "Twilight." I think it's like a fairy tale, not fiction. Your task N 5 is not easy.
I try to explain my opinion. The presentation «Fantastic children” created by Lyceum last year is very fine. There are beautiful pictures and symbols in it. The presentation has its own style. It is detailed.
But I think it is too formal. I do not know what audience is it created for. As for me it lacks information about creators. They do not tell us about different things that they personally do at school. We cannot see that why they are fantastic and what are their differences from other pupils.
I think the creators must tell more about themselves and about their feelings.

My opinion about the presentation “FANTASTIC CHILDREN” created 19.10.2011 by lyceum is:
1. Its conception is very interesting;
2. Its design is very beautiful.
3. It describes in details learning and teaching conditions at this lyceum;
But:
1. The content of this presentation does not correspond to its title. This presentation is about fantastic house where the creator or creators are learning. And not about “fantastic children”. They do not tell the audience about their real life at school, about their relationship between classmates, free time, and hobbies. I do not feel what their attitude to school is.
If the creators really want to describe fantastic and happy children I would like to advise the creators to tell about:
1. their friends at school
2. events that they like ( trips with classmates, walking tours, parties, discussions)
3. favourite subjects and teachers
4. favourite activities at school
Or they can change the title of their presentation. It can be “ Lyceum N….”.

Our teachers are not only former officers. We are taught in Russian, Math, English, History... by teachers from different schools and universities.

Suvorovites took part in the parades on the Red Square in Moskow. Today is this tradition abolished. We would like to restore it.
