Hello, everyone,
We would like to introduce the team of 4 people: we are Yara, Sveta, Julia, Marina.
We all live in the city of Perm, and learn in lyceum № 5. The three of us learn in class 8B, and one - in the parallel class. We have called our team «Matreshka-dolls», because we are beautiful Russian girls from Perm. We are all united by love to paint and we often produce great wall papers on different topics for our class. Every year, each of us makes a smart card in the English language devoted to Christmas.
It's become a tradition of our lyceum. Sveta, for example, won the first prize in this wonderful competition last year. If the pupils of the 5th and 6th grades did only postcards, then students of the 7-8 classes recited poems dedicated to winter and winter holidays on the English language. In addition, we do not only learn poems in English, but also translate them into Russian, and do it all in verse, showing our potential as poets and translators. Also, we “cipher” our poems as illustrations our listeners to be able to see our visual poems.
We decided to take part in this competition, because it is a new and unusual project for us, which intertwines two subjects: Art and English. We have not participated in the competitions on the Russian level yet. It is interesting; will we be able to cope with our work?

We have set three goals. First, we want to try our skills in English. Second, we’d like to take the prize in this competition, and, thirdly, we wish to meet new interesting people with whom we could talk after the competition.

We have three questions to other participants:

1) How long did you think, how to name your team?

2) What is your favourite subject in painting?

3) What do you do in your spare time?

Hello,
We want to present you our team "M&K". Our names are Maria and Ksenia. We study in 11 class lyceum № 5 of Perm. In free time we go dancing and take part in various regional and city competitions. Besides, we are members of the Council of the senior classed in the Lyceum and make newspapers for school holidays. Our lyceum has a tradition which is connected with the English language - on the eve of New Year every pupil does his/her creative work: 5-6 classes make greeting cards for New Year and Christmas, 7-8-formers read poems in English, 9-10 form pupils write letters to Santa Claus/ Father Frost, and 11 class students create winter wonder stories.
Why do we participate in this contest? - First of all, we want to test our knowledge of English on the country level, as we have never participated in projects of this magnitude. The main purpose of our participation in the project is acquaintance with new people. In addition, as we have said, we want to test our skills as well as to win.

We want to ask you some questions to other participants of this contest:
1. Have you got any hobbies?
2. Why have you decide to take part in THIS competition?
3. Whom will you send your card?

Glad to meet you on this forum. It's very unusual to communicate with people whom you can see inside the school you learn in. But may be it'll be more useful for both of us (I mean the two groups). All the same, we need to answer your questions. For us, it was easy to name our team because we are two and we don't often quarrel with each other. We both have got the letters M and K in our names and surnames: Masha Kashina and Ksenia Melyukhina so you can guess why we are called M&K. it was a very quick and simple decision.

Oh, this is not a very easy question, because we are so different and the themes of our paintings are quite various. Masha, for example, loves to create fairy creatures and always helps the English teacher to decorate Christmas hall or the blackboard. She is fond of cartoons and tries to create something beautiful in classic style of painting. She draws too quickly and doesn't waste time even at the lessons. All her exercise-books are full of her masterpieces.
Ksenia (I am) adores to be original too, but because of the fact that she doesn't have spare time almost at all is able to copy the originals from different pictures or photos but nevertheless she does that perfectly. (Though it may be not too shy for me to speak in such way about myself).

When we were younger we made hand-made postcards very othen - in the kinder garten and in primary school and presented the cards to our relatives. Now supermarkerts and shops offer a wide choice of nice and original cards, which enjoy our eyes. We have got a chance to make a postcards ourselves only when we are without money, but there is fantasy and wish to surprise our natives.

In Russia there are many holidays such as New year, Christmas, Day of the Defenders of Motherland, Women's Day, May Day of work, Victory Day, Independence Day of Russia, etc.
Each holiday has its traditions, for example, in New Year it is accepted to dress up a fir-tree and to give presents connected with winter. These are all calendar holidays, on these days it is necessary to have a rest.
However, there are also such holidays which we mark, but we haven't got a rest on them. Let’s remind September, 1st, Day of the Teacher, Birthdays, and Day of school (in our case Day of Lyceum) and so on.
On September, 1st all children from 7 up to 17 go to school in a school uniform with flowers in their hands. They are joyful because they will see the friends whom they didn't see in the summer.
On Teachers’ Day we congratulate teachers and give something pleasant to them from us – their pupils.
On birthday we have fun with all the heart because it happens only once a year. It is your day on which you are congratulated, given gifts and you call all friends to mark it. You are glad that they come to you and haven’t forgotten about you.
Soon it will come March, 8th, on which we congratulate women and girls. They get many pleasant words and congratulations, and gifts.
We would like to congratulate our teacher of the English language Elena Ivanovna with this day. She is a nice teacher, who teaches us to everything that knows herself. She wants us to grow up good people.
We wish her all the best and to remain as cheerful, kind, beautiful, clever as she is now. We wish her to teach not only us, but also our children for long-long years. Elena Ivanovna is a good interlocutor and it is possible to approach to her to ask for suggestions and help at any moment. And all of us love her very much for it. In honour of this holiday we even have composed congratulations for her:
Let the first snowdrop will present to you tenderness,
The spring sun will present heat,
And the March wind will present hope,
Both tenderness, and pleasure, and only kindly!

What is a Card? The Card is a bright colourful picture designed to improve mood of the person, whom you write it.
With help of the card we can declare our love to him/her, thank for help, wish good luck if he/she begins something new or congratulate him/her with some important event in his life.
We'd like to congratulate our teacher of English by two causes. First, we study the last year in our lyceum and we want to leave a good memory about ourselves. Second, we wish to make something pleasant for her and show that we know after her lessons. Our Teacher's name is Elena Ivanovna Yachmeneva. She has been teaching us since 5 class and we are very thankful her for that. We know that on the 14th of March she has got birthday and we hope our greeting card will bring her enjoyment.
Dear Elena Ivanovna,
You teach us almost 7 years. You patiently corrected our mistakes, and explained us all that we could not understand. We are very grateful to you for your help. You are the person we loved best at school because our English lessons were very interesting and instructive.

I read that the British write postcards very often, when congratulating:
Happy Birthday, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, Happy Valentine's Day, Mother's or father's day and in many other cases.
Now, many people make cards do with their hands. I enjoy giving cards to my parents, friends, and I am pleased to see them smile.

Our postcard is individual because it was created from the bottom of our hearts. This card is the result of a hard work of our duet and we hope that our teacher will be glad to see it. Our aim is congratulation of our English teacher both on March 8, and on her birthday. The fulfillment of this postcard took not much time; however, we spent a few hours to make it meaningful and beautiful! We have made this card interactive but we can’t fill in on the forum in such form so you can see it like this.

Our card is special because we have made it with love and for our amazing teacher.
… Bright colours, a cute woman in the middle… just a good composition, but we can’t convey our love which we tried to express in the card… so we think that just a little picture made with love can cheer up our teacher’s mood…

In the centre of the picture you can see a beautiful lady, who is surrounded with a lot of lovely plants and butterflies (butterflies symbolize her students)
We are sure that our card is the best, because it is an excellent, beautiful, unique one!!!
Like all women, Elena Ivanovna is fond of flowers, so this card with plants can make her happy

If you were us you would understand that to be school-leavers isn't so easy. We made a lot of paintings for many previous years so now we decided to create smth different. Yes, we adore to draw, but it's so common...We may suppose that our "masterpiece" is quite nice and our (and your) teacher will mark it...

Let me introduce myself to you. My name is Alyona. My surname is Zhuk. I am 11 years old. I am a pupil of the 5th form of a secondary school. I was born in Mezhdurechensk, Kemerovo region. It is my home town, I have lived here since my born. My family is an averagesized Russian family: I have a mother, a father and a younger sister. I was named after my Granny and I am very proud of it. I am always very busy, but when I am free I like to read books, work with computer and play the piano. I go to musical school every day, so I play the piano fairly well. I am fond of music and poetry. I also like singing and dancing very much. My favourite subjects at school are English and Maths. I am especially very good at them. I think that these subjects are important for me, because I dream to become an economist. I have many friends and I like to travel. I visited a lot of interesting places in my region, Russia and France. It was the brightest travelling for me. As you can see, I am great romantic, caring and loving.
