Dear participants!

I am happy to see you at this competition. Christmas is a great holiday, celebrated all over the world. It symbolizes the birth of Christ. People give different presents to their friends and relatives and congratulate them. In England and the USA Christmas is the main winter holiday.

Your first task is to introduce yourself to the other members of the competition. You are to make up a visit card, which will include the main information about you. Also tell about fascinating traditions and facts, referred to Christmas. Share your cards here.

I want to introduce myself. My name is Anastasia. I live in the Zhelesnodorozhnyi, and I study in grade 10 at the gymnasium number 9. I love to participate in different interesting competitions. I am a very creative person. My motto is: "Creative - it’s part of the solution of problems." At school I take an active part in organize different holidays. it's very fun and interesting! I have a lot of different hobbies: drama, foreign languages (English and German), literature, journalism, sports, and much- much more. I really want to go study in London, and I hope that this dream will necessarily come true!


What is Christmas? I think that Christmas is a wonderful holiday, which brings together people of different nationalities, with different interests, different professions. Traditionally people decorate the house, cook dinner, give each other presents. Father Christmas brings presents to every house and gives them to children. Even London's homeless, living in underground passages decorate their small cardboard box Christmas tree with lights. The main dish on this day - it's Christmas pudding. Mmmm, it's very tasty! Every young woman cooks the Christmas pudding, if she wishes to be married that year.
Christmas is the most magical holiday. Thinks of more desire on Christmas night and they will necessarily come true!

And yes, I do believe in God. I'm an Orthodox Christian and I celebrate Chirtmas on January, 7th like most Russian people do. I decided to take part in this competition because I like learning about other nations' traditons and I'd like to know more about Catholic holidays as well. It is interesting to find out what are the main differences between our celebrating and, for example, American one. Also, I'd love to know about other people's New Year's plans!

Some years ago we celebrate this holiday and began to prepare beforehand. My cousin was born between New Year and Christmass, but we celebrated it on Christmas Eve . It was funny....but now...it's difficult to meet with people you like, everybody is busy
That is why I like such contests, when you can meet new friends and make a holiday here.

I am Irina Lipchanskaya. I’m from Mars beautiful town Zheleznodoroznyj of Moscow Region. Anastasia is my classmate. I am 16 and it was my Birthday yesterday! Do you feel happy about the beginning of winter? I do. I really like this season, because I like winter weather. White snow, fresh wind, winter games with friends, holiday mood… Mmm… Marvelous! And there are so magic Holidays in winter like New Year, Christmas… Catholics will celebrate Christmas in 25th of December, and Christians in 7th of January. Christmas isn't so popular in Russia as in other countries. I think it is not fairly. I believe, it would be nice to make Christmas more famous holiday. I hope, you’ll agree with me. It is a good reason to be closer with your relatives and friends. You can give any presents to your friends and get congratulations from them, too. And you? I wonder, what do you think about Christmas.

I have a few questions to you. First of all, it was said that "Catholics celebrate Christmas on December,25th and Christians on January,7th". But aren't you agree that Catholics are Christians?
And then "Christmas isn't as popular in Russia as in other countries". Why do you think so? Don't you think that Catholic and Orthodox Christians simply have different ways of celebrating this holiday? I guess it will be the first topic to discuss here :)

My name is Ira Kuznetsova. I am 16 years old. I live in Zheleznodorozhniy and I go to school № 9.
Christmas theme is very important today. That is why I am taking part in «My happy Christmas» contest. Christmas is the greatest holiday for me so the theme of the competition foreshadows something wonderful.
Participating in this project-contest, I want to fulfill myself not only as an organizer of children's parties and improve my skills in this sphere, and also I want to arrange a holiday where parents could feel themselves little ones like their children.
My goal is to create the perfect holiday for children that would help parents and children plunge into the "Christmas Adventure". And I wished to see at the end of the holiday every child coming up to parents saying words of love. That would be the best reward for me.

I know several traditions about Christmas in England:
At Christmas all the windows in the houses illuminated by candles. Just that very tradition gave the name to the holiday "The Night of Candles"
The essential part of Christmas celebration was the ritual meal.
In England, Christmas is celebrated even in the poorest families.
Christmas holiday has a very ancient history.

My name is Nastya, I'm 16 years old, I live in the city Zheleznodorozhny in Russia. I am fond of dancing and love to draw. So I like to think of creative projects and participate in many meropriyatiyatiyah.
Participate in this contest, I decided, because I want to try something new for yourself, because before this contest, I did not take part in competitions dinstatsionnyh. Just I want to: find new friends, learn what can be obtained in the field; learn about Christmas in England, to share their experiences with others and learn something from them.

Christmas, like every other mass celebration has generated a lot of character and tradition. Christmas is a miracle for children. Probably not fabulous holiday than Christmas. His mystery - in the wonderful, good stories, which was founded in the Bible. Children receive a well-deserved gifts, candy, and love, warmth, affection of parents.
Christmas - it's not just a holiday for children. This is a worldwide tradition that provides a basis for further life little man. It's a secret hope that he carries through his whole life. And the brighter will be the understanding of Christmas traditions, the more faith to continue in the child's soul.

Zheleznodoroznyj is a town near Moscow. It is situated in the East of Moscow Region. It is really gorgeous town, because there are so many interesting and nice places in Zheleznodoroznyj.

Oh yes, thank you. It means that we live not that far from each other. I'm from Kaluga.

Well...what can I say about Christmas? First off, it is a great holiday that makes people feel happy! Christmas means laughing and spending time with your family and friends but most important of all is celebrating the birth of Christ!
Christmas to me means spending time with those you love and who love you. It's not about presents as a lot of kids think. I'm agree that New Year is a holiday for presents because it is not religious and is not that deep. But! I don't want to say that I like New Year less than Christmas! These two holidays means a lot to me because I spend them with my relatives. Actually, I can quite confidently say that these holidays are my favourite!
It is pity that many people don't take Chritmas as serious as they should.
And as for me, people who don't believe in God have to respect religios people and simply enjoy this unique time when all of us feel so blessed!

Well..I can't say that we have unique traditions of celebrating in my family but I can tell you what we usually do when I go to my relatives.
As a rule we buy presents, tasty food and different ornamentals a couple of days before the holiday. Then my uncle go to the forest to cut a fir-tree. All of us go with him to the forest where we play snowballs and have fun with my cousins. Adults talk, laugh and take pictures of us and snowy nature.
We give presents to each other the last day of the year. Every December, 31st I feel sorry about the year that is going to leave us :) Adults cook, me and my cousins spend all day long outside with our friends.
At night we watch TV, dance, make jokes and go for a walk. New Year is amazing! I can't wait!

I KNEW you would ask me about it! I even wanted to mention that my uncle does it legal but decided not to do it. Even don't know why. Anyway, I do know that it is prohibited in most of places of our country:)
And I've got four cousins- three of them are girls and one of them is a boy. Almost all of them are younger than me. Maybe I'll upload some of their photos if I find them.

And no, I don't know the second task...do you?
