Dear participants!
Here is the timetable of our contest:

8 сентября «Знакомство». Представьте себя творчески на форуме нашего конкурса.

8-10 сентября (I этап конкурса) – Тема «КАК ВЫБРАТЬ АДРЕСАТА?». Задание № 1 «Герой моего письма». Участники на форуме представляют в творческой форме того, кому они будут писать письмо.

11-13 сентября (II этап конкурса) – Тема «С ЧЕГО НАЧИНАЕТСЯ ПИСЬМО?». Задание № 2 «Я ВАМ ПИШУ…». Участники пишут первый вариант своего письма. Работы участников публикуются на форуме.

14- 17 сентября (III этап конкурса) – Тема «А У МЕНЯ ВОТ ТАК». Задание № 3 «ВСТРЕТИМСЯ НА ФОРУМЕ». Участники знакомятся с письмами других участников проекта и принимают участие в их обсуждении на форуме.

18-20 сентября (IV этап конкурса) – Тема «ТОЧКА, ТОЧКА, ЗАПЯТАЯ». Задание № 4 «ОФОРМЛЕНИЕ И ДИЗАЙН ПИСЬМА». Участники творчески оформляют свое письмо и отсылают его письма выбранным корреспондентам и ведущему конкурса. Участники конкурса также высылают ведущему конкурса свои рефлексии.

21 сентября – Подведение итогов. Призеры конкурса получают подарки и грамоты, участникам высылается рейтинг.

Hi, my name is Alena. I get an education in school number 9 of the city of Kaluga. From childhood I was involved in various sports that every day gives me a charge of vivacity and energy. I love to dance. Rhythm brings into my life, vibrant colors. I do not think an interesting daily pastime on the couch watching TV. Life is full of events different, I would not want to miss. I fully developed person, so it is difficult to define for me more interesting and more important, so I try to develop in all spheres of life. I do not believe that the end of the world will come in 2012, and the fact that the Russian president will be Ivan Okhlobystin (despite the fact that I would have voted for him). Participation in this contest is just an attempt to prove themselves, but at the same time it's an amazing opportunity to get new impressions, experiences, and a good time.

My name is Ivan. I’m aт extraordinary person. I do sport and I have been learning 3 foreign languages for 5 years:english, german and french. At the same time I’m excellent at school. Water rafting is my cup of tea, this summer my parents and I were at the mountin river Kantegir and it was so amazing. I had never felt so free before.Moreover, in julyI visited France, it was so cool! Notre-Dame, Tour Eiffel, Disneyland impressed me.It was the first time I have visited Europe. Oh, I will never forget it.
My specific feature is that I feel as if I were a hunter, who goes for a hunt and wanders in the wood. I don’t know were to find my prey. I’m often in a mess, and I don’t see the way. I want to try everything. But I hope, in future I will choose a right way and I’ll reach my goals(my dream is to become an archeologist).
I’m taking part in this competition because I would like to communikate with foreigners and with other competitors.And I would like to know my own level of knowledge.

Hello, my name is Kate. I am from Russia. I live in Siberia, Sayanogorsk. Siberia differs from other regions. For example, it has a beautiful and unusual nature: mountains, forests, steppes, lots of lakes and rivers. One more difference is our climate. We have cold winter and hot summer. I’m proud of my homeland. I would be happy if you could see all this beauty.

As for me, I’m … Oh, I think it’s difficult to describe myself but my friends say that I’m amiable, extrovert, creative, outgoing and reliable. Sometimes I’m easygoing and a little capricious. But it doesn’t prevent me to have a lot of friends.

I think that quotation by Coco Chanel “Our hands have everything, that’s why we mustn’t lower them” can help characterize me. I can say I live with this motto: everything depends on me.

I can equal me with ocean, because ocean is deep, immense. It has a lot of mysteries, treasures, unexplored places. I’m ready to get new knowledge, information and skills. Also nobody doesn’t know me at all, and me as well. That’s why every day I find out something interesting about myself .I have broad circle hobbies. They are sport, special snowboarding, learning foreign languages( French, Chinese) and watching films.

I’m very glad that I take part in this contest. I hope to find my old friends from the previous year and, of cause, make a friend with new one. I want to say thank you to organizers of this project for possibility of communication in English with other people and improving language.

I think that people must care about nature as their mother care about them.There are a lot of decision ecological problems.
Such as:
1 Leave the car at home
2 protect animals
3 save water
4 recycle rubbish
5 ban aerosols and so on...

Yes of cause, I agree with you. I can add that polluting factories and bildings have to be closed. Also people should make more ecological organizations, such as : Greenpease, WWF and ohers.

Hi, I am Uetova Katya.
I can compare myself with… I don’t know, but my friends often call me “dandelion”, because of my hair. And sometimes they call me “gold fish”, because my sign of the zodiac is fish and I am up in the clouds and I miss what they said.
What can I say about myself? I like music so much. I can play the guitar, the domra and the piano. I finished music school two years ago, and now I play the rhythm guitar in symphony orchestra and jazz band.
I like English classical literature. My favorite writers are Jane Eyre, Charlotte and Emily Bronte. I want to read books in the original. And, of course, I want to communicate with people from other countries.
I think that this competition help me to improve my English. And I make the acquaintance of interesting people.

Thanks for the reply! Yes, Siberian nature seems to be amazing:) But many people think that it is really cold there all the time. Of course, I understand that it is not true. It can be really warm there, especially in summer. Am I right?
I would like to know
1. Are there any mountains where you live?
2. What kinds of trees are widespread in Syberia? Are there any unique plants?
Well, my hometown is Kaluga. As you can see, there are many people from my town take part in this competition :) So, I can say that it is not a very big city but there are a lot of buildings(some of them are really old), cars and factories. Kaluga is located on the Oka River, in the central part of the East European Plain. So, there are no mountains nor hills. At least, our hills are not tall at all. To be honest, I don't know what else I can tell you but if you want to know something specific, just ask me!

You are right, the summer is warm, and sometimes it 's very hot. So we save thanks air-conditioner or lakes. I can be on lake all the day.
Of cause, there are a lot of mountains in my region. For example : this is great and high mountains Sayan.I can see them from my window.
As for trees, ther are a lot of different kinds of them in Siberia. They are : cedar, pine, spruse, mountain ash, of cause, birch and others. Peculiarity of our plants are medicinal properties.

thank you, it was really interesting to read about the place where you live! The weather in Kaluga does not differ from the weather in other regions of the European part of Russia. We have pretty cold winters and hot summers, rainy autumns and warm springs. We get a lot of snow in winter and it is a lot of fun to play snowballs or create a snowman! I don't like to spend summers in Kaluga because it can be too hot. As a rule I go to my relatives who live in a village. I should say that the nature is really beautiful here! There are no mountains or something like that, but there are a lot of rivers, fields, forests, groves, lakes and gullies

Dear Volan-de-mort,
How are you? I hope that you are fine. In my letter I would like to ask you some questions, then I am going to answer myself and when you answer me , I’ll compare my own answers with yours.
Firstly, I want to shortly present myself. My name is Ivan. I’m aт extraordinary person. I do sport and I have been learning 3 foreign languages for 5 years:english, german and french. At the same time I’m excellent at school.And I very like to communicate with foreigners.
And now, I would like to ask some questions. Why did you become so cruel? Why you don’t understand that love is more powerful then evil? Then, how do you live with 1/7 part of the soul?(in the book was written that only a very cruel killer can separate his soul into two parts, but Dark Lord has separated his soul into 7 parts!!). And the most interesting question: in the last part of the story have you repented?
I don’t have answers to all questions, that I have asked. But I’ll try to answer some of them.I think that you became so cruel because of you are an orphan. Nobody didn’t love you. May be lack of love has made you a monster.I don’t understand how do you live with 1/7 part of the soul(you have something good in your heart). And finally, have you repented? I don’t know. Please answer yourself. Now I have to go, I have to do my homework.

What about me, I like Spanish.
Spanish history breathes almost as bright color, like the Russian. Perhaps that is why these two countries believe in something similar to one another.

Speaking about Spain, you can write a lot, even without going into details of modern history and music.
Spanish language is very beautiful: Comprender las cosas que nos rodean es la mejor preparación para comprender las cosas que hay mas allá (Hipatia). ( To understand what is happening around us, this is the best preparation for understanding the things that are outside)

Dear God,
I am not going to tell you about myself. Because you know it. I want to tell you about my motivations of my life. My motivation is fear. Everything in my life what I do it's all because of fear. I study hard because I`m afraid that one day I can stay without work and without money. I try to communicate with different people because I`m afraid to stay completely alone. But there is a fear that can`t be near with the others. This fear of being late. Sometimes second may be more valuable than a year. Somebody afraids of being late to work. Somebody afraids of being late to meet with friends. As for me I`m afraid to be late for my family. Happened, we rush to strangers, delay until later the nearest people. The fact that we simply can`t have another chance to come in time. And I don`t write about the school lessons and not about the marathon.
I'll seek your answer staring in the eyes of my mother, I think your particle live there.

I agree with your opinion about fear.Also you ask me about hero of my letter and I`ll answer you/I think that it`s usual write to god/Everybody send messages to him. but not all recognized others. It is not fashionable.

Dear Tyra,

I’m very happy that I can write to you. I have dreamed to do it for a long time. And now I write to you this letter. Of cause, you have been receiving a lot of different letters from every corner of the globe. But I hope my letter will interest you, Tyra.

At first I would like to introduce myself to you. Hello, my name is Kate. I am from Russia. I live in Siberia, Sayanogorsk. Siberia differs from other regions. For example, it has a beautiful and unusual nature: mountains, forests, steppes, lots of lakes and rivers. One more difference is our climate. We have cold winter and hot summer. I’m proud of my homeland. I would be happy if you could see all this beauty. I’m amiable, extrovert, creative, outgoing and reliable. Sometimes I’m easygoing and a little capricious. But it doesn’t prevent me to have a lot of friends. I’m all-round person, as you. That’s why I have a lot of hobbies. For example they are snowboarding, skiing, climbing and drawing. Also I’m fond of learning foreign languages. I have been learning 3 languages : French, Chinese and , of cause, English. Thanks it we can communicate.

Why do I like you? The answer is simple : I like beautiful and energetic people who can achieve own goals in life. I know you’re a top model, an actor, a singer, a producer and a television anchorman. Also you have some shows which is successful not only in USA but in other countries as well as in Russia. It’s : “America’s Next Top Model”. I admire it. I attained everything thanks your own work. You always look after yourself, that’s why you look well. In my opinion , you’re sociable and polite, you can speak correctly. I will follow you as an example.I’m interested in : What hobbies did you have in childhood? Did you have many friends? Tyra, tell me please about your future plans. Do you plan to open a new show? It’s exiting question not only for me and even for my friends.In future I want to have my own business. What can you advise me for achievement of this?

The 2’nd task

I decided to continue the theme of literary heroes, my letter I decided to address to Frodo Baggins - the main hero of the Tolkien's book "The Lord of the Rings".
It is usually assumed that the small, peaceful, non-ambitious, people can’t significantly influence on the course of history. In this book result depended on Frodo’s mission, but the race of hobbit was considered to be the most innocuous and peaceful, from all races of Middle-earth.
I am very interested in this book and I would like to ask Frodo a lot of questions.

These are questions that I would like to use in my letter:

Frodo, I've always wanted to know why you agreed to carry the ring? Have you ever regreedt of you decision? I mean that it has changed your life greatly. May be you think that it would be better to live a normal hobbit's life, and not to mess with all sorts of rings, magicians and other strange things. What did you feel when you were carrying a ring? Hello! I’m great, thank you!
First of all I want to say thank you for the help. It means a lot to me.
School is going great. I have got a few good marks. It is difficult to wake up so early after summer holidays but I understand that education is important. So, I try to do my best at school and I have no much free time again.
You are absolutely right, my summer was really good. I went to my relatives who live pretty far away from me. I didn’t travel to other countries or continents but I can’t say that my summer was not exciting. I met a lot of new interesting people and we had a great time together! What about you?
I didn’t choose my future job yet, but I’m sure that I’ll work with languages. Maybe someday I’ll be able to travel all over the world and practice the English language.
I wish you good luck at your college and I’m sure that you will do great on all your exams!

Well, Rebecca wrote to me first and I don't know where she got my e-mail address. She has probably found it on a website for people who want to have penpals from other countries.
I know her since February:)
She has a lot of interests! For example, she likes the Russian language. She tries to teach herself how to speak Russian:) Rebecca is an animal lover! She has three pets. Also she loves to read, write, dance and have fun with friends. She wants to write novels and publish books when she grow up! I think that it is really interesting.

We are a team from beautiful city of Kaluga. Sorry we're late with a visit card but it is difficult to gather all of us at school (some of us are ill). Also we have some problems with the Internet…
So my name is Victor or simply VityaJ, I`m 16 years old. They say I am cheerful, sociable, not sensitive and positive…may be they are right….who knows…:) I am fond of sport, foreign languages, biology and chemistry. I took part in this contest last year and remember Darya Cat and Kate Pinayeva-Hello girls! How are you?
There are 4 of us in the team: me and 3 charming girls. All the girls are beautiful, clever and cheerful. One of them is Vlada (a beautiful name:) she is interested in sciences, wants to become a doctor( as well as me) . I know her only one year , but we have already made friends. It is very easy to talk with her , and we often have fun togetherJ And in general she is a very good friend.
Well, the second girl is Anyal . I am not familiar with her... Probably a month has not passed but I already precisely know that she is easy0going girl)))) She`s beautiful too...Though I think all of the girls are beautiful at our school))) And we are aimed at success! Hope it will be easy with such girls!
P.S. We hope to get here new friends and will share our success with them)))
Sorry, I’ve forgotten about the third girl-Julia! Her nick is NICE and she has written about herself here in the forum already.

Our team decided to write a letter to a young girl, who went from Russia to Great Britain a few years ago . She is currently studying at Durham University, and teaches at the Nursery at Primary School. Why did she decide to leave the country? Why not America? Why London? Whether she misses the Motherland?
